The first of its kind, Tweet for Beats was a social media experiment where music fans used Twitter to unlock an exclusive Lupe Fiasco track. 

It worked like this:

Every tweet that was hash tagged with #tweetforbeats unlocked a portion of the song which was split into the bass line, vocals, and treble.  Each split took a certain amount of tweets to unlock. Once unlocked, the layer became playable and when all the layers were unlocked the complete song could be downloaded for free. 

The experience also housed "Twitterhertz", an equalizer that moved in time with the song using the profile pictures of contributors.
